Strand to introduce additional budget amendments

(FARGO) — Fargo City Commissioner John Strand will be suggesting additional cuts be made to the City of Fargo’s budget.

In documents published with the Commission agenda for Monday, Strand requests that the city administration limited three or more additional full-time equivalents ‘prior to the onset of the 2025 calendar year.’ Additionally, he requests the city end multiple boards, commissions and committees; eliminate the Office of Strategic Planning and Research; and add between two and four new sworn police officers to the Downtown Community Engagement Team ‘in lieu of funding’ for multiple non-core services.

Strand said the cuts would establish a four-and-a-half percent cost of living adjustment ‘so as to prioritize workforce retention.’

The meeting begins Monday at 5 p.m. in City Commission Chambers at Fargo City Hall.
