WASHINGTON – The Special Counsel Jack Smith files to drop the charges in President-elect Trump’s federal election interference case.
Trump faced felony charges connected with his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
The Supreme Court put the entire case in doubt this year when the Justices ruled Trump had some presidential immunity.
Trump’s team applauded the decision and called for an end to what they describe as his political prosecution.
