NORTH DAKOTA – State geologists say there is a significant amount of untapped oil buried deep in the Bakken of northwestern North Dakota.
A new study by the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources claims up to 250 million barrels, or over 10 billion gallons of oil could be extracted just 50 feet lower than a reservoir already being drilled.
State geologist Ted Starns says to produce such a volume would take around 600 new wells.
