Senate to vote on former Gov. Burgum’s Interior Secretary nomination this week

WASHINGTON – The Senate will start debate on former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum’s Interior Secretary nomination Wednesday afternoon and a final vote is expected to take place Thursday night.

That’s according to North Dakota Senator John Hoeven’s Communications Director Kami Carpener. She adds if Democrats agree to yield back debate time, the votes could happen sooner.

Last week the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee voted 18 to 2 to approve Burgum’s Interior Secretary nomination. Democratic Senators Ron Wyden of Oregon and Mazie Hirono of Hawaii voted against his nomination.
