North Dakotan charged in connection with January 6 case in Washington, DC

(WASHINGTON, DC) – A North Dakota man has been charged with four misdemeanors for his participation in the January 6, 2021 events at the United States Capitol in Washington, DC. Damian Johnston is charged with misdemeanors of Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds, Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building and Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The FBI received a tip identifying Johnston in images taken inside the Capitol building. The tip was received on September 18, 2023.

Court documents say Johnston attended a rally and then went to the Capitol building, where he entered the building through the Senate Wing Door at 3:08 p.m. Johnston walked in the direction of the area known as “the Crypt.”

Johnston is set to appear in front of Magistrate Judge G. Michael Harvey on October 10 at 12:30 p.m. Court officials say the hearing will be conducted by video teleconference.
