(BISMARCK, ND) – A bill that looked to keep inmates in the prison system for a majority of their sentence has failed in the North Dakota House.
Senate Bill 2128, the state’s ‘Truth-in-Sentencing’ bill, looked to require inmates spend at least 50 percent of their sentence before becoming eligible for transfer to a transition center or parole. The bill also added tougher penalties for assaulting a peace officer or fleeing.
Flag Family Media has reached out to North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley , the state’s top law enforcement official, for comment.
