North Dakota High School Activities Association adopts spectator ejection policy

(VALLEY CITY) – The board of directors of the North Dakota High School Activities Association has enacted a spectator ejection policy for the upcoming school year.

The policy was approved unanimously at a special board meeting on Wednesday.

It calls for any attendee ejected from a regular season or NDHSAA tournament contest to incur a three game/event suspension from that team’s games or events, along with all other NDHSAA games or events, in the interim. This involves all levels of competition.

“If the ejection occurs with fewer than three games or events remaining in the team’s season, the suspension will carry over to the school’s sports season which immediately follows,” the policy states.

A second ejection would result in a minimum of a one calendar year suspension from all NDHSAA regular and postseason events.”

The policy gives member schools the autonomy to increase the minimum penalties.
