ND Lawmakers mull bill to reduce cost of insulin

BISMARCK, N.D. – State lawmakers are considering a bill that would reduce the price of insulin drugs and related supplies.

Officials say House Bill 114 would establish limits on out-of-pocket costs for monthly supplies of insulin. Cost would be capped at $25 for policyholders of individual and small group-insurance plans. The bill does not apply to insurance provided by large employers.

State law mandates that North Dakota must first test out any health insurance mandates on covered public employees before extending them to the broader market.
