Moorhead proposes increase in 2025 tax levy

(MOORHEAD) – The City of Moorhead is proposing an increase in the tax levy for 2025. At its meeting this week, the city proposed an increase of more than $3.1 million over last year’s levy. More than $900,000 will be generated by new construction and increases in taxable market value. Additionally, the levy shows an increase in annual debt levy of $150,000 and an increase in the library’s levy. The levy also provides more than $2 million in wage and benefit increases, which funds one additional full-time employee and provides for operating needs. The levy increase is estimated to increase the property tax rate by nearly five percent.
