(HORACE) – A Moorhead man faces multiple charges following an arrest Saturday night in Cass County.
Authorities arrested 34-year-old Dalton Beyer after deputies initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle just before 8 p.m. Saturday in Horace. During the stop, a DUI investigation was conducted, which resulted in the arrest of Beyer. Following the arrest, Beyer forcefully kicked the window portion of a Cass County squad car, causing approximately $5,100 in damage. The squad car, according to the sheriff’s office, had only been in service for one week.
Beyer was transferred to a separate Cass County transport van. While in the transport van, Beyer kicked out a window and caused approximately $2,500 in damage.
During the incident, Beyer assaulted Cass County deputies, which resulted in additional felony charges. No one was seriously injured during the assault.
Beyer was transported to the Cass County Jail, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office anticipates seeking restitution for the damaged caused by Beyer during his arrest.
Beyer faces eight felonies – three for simple assault on a peace officer, one for preventing arrest, two for criminal mischief and two for conspiracy to escape. Additionally, he faces two misdemeanors – one for DUI and the other for DUI refusal.
