MOORHEAD – Moorhead firefighters responded to two fire calls Friday night. The first one broke out just before 7:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of 5th St. S. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the back of a home, with flames spreading up the siding and soffit. They managed to quickly put the fire out before it spread to the attic. Everyone got out safely. Fire damage was limited to the home’s exterior, but there was some smoke and water damage inside. The cause is under investigation, but it’s believed to be accidental.
While firefighters were putting out that fire, they got another call of a working fire in the 1200 block of 34th St. Circle S., with people trapped in their apartment. Fargo and Dilworth Firefighters were paged out to help. It turned out there was no fire, but firefighters found a sprinkler head that was activated in a hallway for unknown reasons. Firefighters turned off the sprinkler system and let the property management company handle things from there.
