FARGO, N.D. – Thirty-two metro-area U.S. Presidential Scholar candidates were honored at an event at the Avalon Events Center Wednesday night.
Families, friends, educators and supporters braved the snow to support the area’s top students at the event hosted by Fieldstone Group.
Seniors in high school have to be invited to apply for the scholarship and have the opportunity to become them on academic achievement, SAT and ACT scores, artistic ability and success in career and technical education fields. Two students per state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico along with several living abroad will be named U.S. Presidential Scholars in June.
The great athletes in our schools get applause from time-to-time, but our high level students don’t get many standing ovations in public so we’re hoping to fix that,” Fieldstone Group President and Managing Partner Steve Hallstrom said.
Sponsors Chord Energy, Busek Olson and Associates, University of North Dakota, Cardinal IG, University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Center of the American Experiment helped make the event happen.
