Four North Dakota college presidents receive raises

NORTH DAKOTA – Four state college presidents are getting raises after the University of North Dakota is recognized as a research institution.

The Carnegie Foundation announced earlier this month UND had attained R-1 status, its highest level for research universities.

North Dakota State already has R-1 status, so members of the State Board of Higher Education suggested giving the president of UND a salary to match the president of NDSU.

That proposal was voted down. Instead the board voted to give raises to both presidents and to the presidents of Mayville State University and Valley City State University.
