EAST GRAND FORKS, MINN. (Valley News Live) – The East Grand Forks Fire Department says there were no injuries in a fire that happened at American Crystal Sugar.
Officials they responded around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Crews were called for heavy smoke in the pulp dryer area. All employees were evacuated.
Fire crews were on scene for three-and-a-half hours containing the fire in the pulp dryers. Fire officials say because of the high heat there was some extension into duct work and a small part of the roof. That fire allegedly started due to a power outage that caused some equipment to stop working.
