(FARGO, ND) – A Fargo woman is facing a Class A felony theft charge after she allegedly stole more than $250,000 from a former employee. According to court documents, Leymah Lopai allegedly stole inventory from a collectibles business in Fargo.
The thefts date back to May 2024, when a total of six bank notes had gone missing. A further investigation showed a total of 500 collectible bank notes were missing, with a value of $250,000. A package was received, containing two of the missing notes and a note that matched the suspect’s handwriting.
After Lopai was arrested, a search of her apartment led to 1,423 bank notes – which were worth approximately $400,000. Additionally, a large amount of other currency was located, court documents state.
Lopai is incarcerated at the Cass County Jail, and is being held on a $10,000 bail with conditions that she have no contact with the business owner.
