Fargo South placed on lockdown following threat

(FARGO) – Parents with students at Fargo South High School have received an alert from the school that it has received a phone call threat to the school office.

Fargo Public Schools Chief Communications Officer AnnMarie Campbell confirmed that Fargo South High School was currently under lockdown. The lockdown has since been lifted.

In an email obtained from Fargo Public Schools, South High School principal Kristi Brandt tells parents that “all students and staff are currently safe.”

The school office received a phone call at around 2 p.m. this afternoon in which the caller indicated they had placed bombs around and in the school. Brandt said that, based on the information the caller was sharing, the threat was deemed not to be credible, and was most likely a ‘swatting’ call.

“However, out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the school, emergency procedures were enacted, and the school went into a lockdown,” Brandt said in the e-mail. The school will remain locked down until the Fargo Police Department has completed a full sweep of Fargo South High School.

“While I understand that this communication is concerning to receive, everything is being done to ensure the safety of everyone in the school at this time,” Brandt said. “Another message will be sent to you as soon as the lockdown is lifted and we return to normal operations.”
