(FARGO, ND) – Fargo Police say the apprehension of a homicide suspect in Dubuque, Iowa, was the work of multiple law enforcement agencies coming together.
Police say 30-year-old Steven Burrell shot 32-year-old Rahssan Wilson Wednesday and then fled the state, traveling through the Midwest before being arrested in Iowa Thursday night.
“This arrest is the result of a comprehensive investigation involving not only our agencies throughout the metro, but also our federal partners and our partners throughout the region,” Fargo Police Criminal Investigations Division Captain Bill Ahlfeldt said in a Friday afternoon press conference. Ahlfeldt said he could not comment exactly where Burrell traveled before being apprehended in Dubuque.
Police say 36 hours between the time of the incident and the time of an arrest is ‘a very quick turnaround for a homicide investigation.’
There’s no word on a timetable for Burrell’s return to North Dakota.
The investigation into a motive for the shooting continues, but Ahlfeldt said Wilson and Burrell were acquainted with each other.
