Captain Chris Helmick works final shift at Fargo Police Department, moves onto Police Chief position in Moorhead

(FARGO, ND) – Fargo Police Captain Chris Helmick has worked his final shift with the Fargo Police Department.

Helmick was named Police Chief at the City of Moorhead at its March 10 meeting. He will assume the position of chief on April 14, succeeding Chief Shannon Monroe, who retired in March after more than 30 years on the job. He will oversee more than 60 sworn officers and nearly 20 support staff.

Helmick joined the Fargo Police Department in 2007 and rose through the ranks, leaving the department as Captain of the Professional Standards Division of the department.
