(FARGO, ND) – A Fargo man has pled guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon in federal court.
Kadari Pearson, 20, appeared and pled guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Peter Welte on Wednesday to a single count of possession of firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently detained pending sentencing on the federal charge, which has been set for March 17.
Fargo Police were in the area of the Arbors after a shots-fired report in June when they observed Pearson wearing a sweatshirt and pulling a ski mask over his face. The sweatshirt pocket appeared to have something heavier than a cell phone in it. Officers further observed Pearson enter into a backyard in the neighborhood, where a resident of the home said Pearson did not have permission to be.
Officers directed him to halt, but Pearson fled on foot. While fleeing, Pearson threw what appeared to be a firearm beneath a vehicle in a nearby parking lot. It was confirmed that the weapon was a SIG Sauer 9mm pistol loaded with 10 rounds, reported stolen.
Pearson was an inmate on escape status at the time.
