Fargo City Commissioner Kolpack wants COLA increases up to 5 percent for city employees

(Fargo, ND) — Fargo City Commissioners this afternoon reviewed the mayor’s budget proposal for 2025.

Mayor Mahoney and Commissioner Denise Kolpack said increasing pay for city employees is a priority.

“I would support at least 4-and-a-half to 5 percent increase in COLA (cost of living) and we need to continue number one, to look at ways to continue to increase COLA the following year,” said Kolpack.

Kolpack said cost of living increases should also be provided in 2026.

She also said benefits for city employees must be reviewed.

Mayor Mahoney’s budget plan calls for spending $133.5 million dollars.

That’s an increase of 11.5 percent compared to 2024.
