Camping to end on public property, rights of way in Fargo

(FARGO, ND) – Camping will no longer be allowed on public property and rights of way in the City of Fargo after action at Monday night’s Fargo City Commission meeting.

The Commission voted 5-0 to sunset the resolution that accompanies Fargo’s camping ordinance in 90 days.

Representatives from the FM Coalition to End Homelessness and United Way of Cass-Clay also spoke to commissioners about a list of objectives aimed at ‘long term success’ for the Fargo community. The organizations are looking to guide the region throughout the next 30, 60 and 90 days with the long-term goal of working towards slowing down the homeless issue in the metro.

Chandler Esslinger, Executive Director for the FM Coalition to End Homelessness, said the ‘vast majority of people’ experiencing homelessness are from the region, but the organizations work daily with people looking to relocate closer to home if they are homeless.
