Burgum calls South Korea trip important to find non-Chinese supply chains

NORTH DAKOTA – Governor Doug Burgum describes the importance of a North Dakota delegation’s weeklong trip to South Korea on What’s On Your Mind on AM 1100 The Flag.

“We need non-Chinese supply chains and these folks are technologically, completely adept. This is the home of Samsung and LG and all these other great tech and semiconductors and this is the kind of ally that the U.S. needs to get off of Chinese supply chains and build security,” Burgum said.

South Korea doesn’t have oil and gas production. Burgum says the country uses three million barrels of oil per day. He feels it’s good to have partners who may know oil-producing states like Texas, but can learn about others they can import from.

Burgum also described the memorandum of understanding he signed with the Korea Institute of Energy Research. He says the organization can’t do carbon capture and storage, so it’s important for them to get that research from North Dakota.
