(BISMARCK, ND) – Legislation that would assess a penalty to North Dakota school districts for failing to comply with school bathroom gender policies passed the Senate.
Based on the original House bill, schools would not be allowed to have gender-neutral bathrooms, and could be investigated for violations by the Attorney General’s Office.
Districts could face fines up to $2,500.
The measure says a restroom must be exclusively for males or for females and may only be used for the designated sex.
During the last legislative session, a bill was approved that forbid transgender students for using bathrooms or locker rooms that related to their chosen gender.
