AG Bondi threatens to sue MN over allowing transgender athletes in women’s sports

WASHINGTON – Attorney General Pam Bondi says she’s looking into suing the state of Minnesota for defying an executive order signed by President Donald Trump banning transgender athletes from participating in girls’ an women’s sports.

“We don’t want to be suing people. We want them to comply with the law. We’ve given them opportunity over and over again. The Department of Education, HHS, they sat down with them in person, multiple meetings, and got nowhere,” Bondi said in a press conference.

The Department of Justice has sued Maine for allowing transgender athletes to participate in women’s sports. Bondi says she’s also looking into suing California.

The Minnesota State High School League says participation and eligibility of transgender student-athletes is determined by state law prohibiting discrimination on gender identity.
