UPDATED: Two men killed in Clay County crash Sunday morning

9:47 a.m. Monday update: (Barnesville, Minn.) — More information is being released regarding a Sunday morning crash in Clay County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 28-year-old Isaac Schultz, of Fergus Falls, was driving a 2019 Volkswagon GTI which was involved in a fatal crash on Highway 9 in Barnesville Township. The 28-year-old Schultz was killed in the crash, and was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Patrol.

His passenger, 28-year-old James Mork, of Barnesville, was also killed. He was wearing a seat belt.

Original Story: (Barnesville, Minn.) — Two men are dead following a crash Sunday morning in Clay County.

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow said, on X, the crash happened at 5:31 a.m. Sunday on Highway 9 at milepost 146 in Barnesville Township.

A 2019 Volkswagon GTI was southbound on Minnesota Highway 9 when it left the road and crashed.

Both occupants are 28-year-old males, one from Fergus Falls and the other from Barnesville.

The crash report states the crash involved “an unbelted/unrestrained occupant.”

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the road conditions as “other.”

The State Patrol was assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Barnesville Police and Barnesville Fire.
