(Fargo, ND) – A group that aimed to recall members of the Fargo School Board will not face charges for a petition effort that gathered thousands of invalid signatures.
The Cass County State’s Attorney says their office will not charge the Recall Fargo School Group. The group gathered the signatures in 2021, gathering more than 4,400 names for each board member. However, it was determined that 6,000 of the collected signatures were not valid, which did not reach the minimum threshold to trigger a recall election. An investigation into the number of invalid signatures was conducted by local authorities.
The Recall Fargo School Group attempted to force a recall election after disagreements with federal fund usage, online learning, and mask mandates, among other concerns.
