$27.4 million given to 69 ND hospitals & clinics for ultrasound devices & training

Conversation between Essentia Health Fargo diagnostic imaging manager Amanda Behr and Austin Erickson

NORTH DAKOTA – The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust grants $27.4 million to help 69 North Dakota hospitals and health centers buy ultrasound imaging devices and help train the state’s sonography workforce.

Essentia Health will receive a little more than $2 million to get ultrasound equipment at clinics in Bismarck, Jamestown, Valley City and Wahpeton and the hospital in Fargo.

Those in the diagnostic imaging profession say it’s important to continue to teach about this technology since it’s always advancing.

“The goal is to provide these ultrasound services closer to home for patients and provide updated technology and access,” Essentia Health Fargo diagnostic imaging manager Amanda Behr said.
