(FARGO, ND) – In its eleventh year, the Feed My Starving Children FargoPack has packed its 20 millionth meal.
It happened in the morning shift Saturday.
“We did some math, and that is feeding over 50,000 kids every day for a year,” Sarah DeYonge, spokesperson for Feed My Starving Children FargoPack, said.
She says the program makes a difference to kids and families.
“This is feeding kids and families who might not know where their next meal is coming from,” DeYonge said. “(They) might regularly go to bed unable to even think about going to sleep because they’re starving.”
The community also benefits from the program.
“A lot of our volunteers are local students,” she said. This year’s pack, as in years past, started off with students from the metro coming together to volunteer to pack meals.
“It’s really cool to see these kids coming together to feed other kids around the world,” DeYonge said. “It’s a huge difference maker.”
