OTTAWA – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he’s resigning as leader of his Liberal Party, but will remain prime minister until a new leader is chosen.
Trudeau has served as the country’s prime minister since 2015.
His decision comes as he has faced falling poll numbers ahead of a general election many analysts predict he will lose. Trudeau’s Liberal Party is anticipated to lose to the opposing Conservative Party in the general election that is to be held on or before October 20th.
