Fedorchak reacts to President Trump’s address to joint Congressional session

(WASHINGTON, DC) – North Dakota Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak says attending her first speech by President Donald Trump was an exciting moment for her first term in Congress.

“The mood in the chamber was very celebratory,” Fedorchak said, despite a moment early when Texas Representative Al Green, a Democrat, was removed from the chamber for disrupting Trump’s speech.

She said she was looking forward to Trump’s plan to rebuild the American Dream, a subject he touched on by touching on key points in his agenda for the country.

One of the many themes of Trump’s speech was energy policy.

“Good energy policy allows us to do so much in our country,” Fedorchak said. She went on to say energy policy addresses inflation, creates jobs, generates economic revenue, helps improve national security and helps the world.

Trump also touched on tax cuts.

“We’re going to be working hard on those through the budget reconciliation process,” Fedorchak said. “The average North Dakotan would feel about a $2500 tax increase if we don’t expand the Trump tax cuts.”

She said those increases affect middle-class working people ‘the most,’ pointing at that fact being the main reason that issue is being worked on.

“In order to do that, we have to cut spending,” Fedorchak said. She pointed to current initiatives such as the Department of Government Efficiency as one of the ways this is currently being addressed.

He also spoke to Ukraine and Russia and policy surrounding that.

“He’s made more progress than anybody on that issue,” Fedorchak said. “He’s insistent on peace, he campaigned on that and he is again delivering on that as well.”

When it comes to tariffs, Trump said Americans will feel the impact of the tariffs.

Fedorchak says she’s working with the ag community closely regarding tariffs, saying she has met with groups affected.

“We are going to be in very close contact, because this is a very important issue to our producers,” she says. “We need to pass the Farm Bill as quick as we can.”
