Minor injuries in a rear-end crash on I-29 in Cass County

(CASS COUNTY, ND) – One person was injured in a rear-end crash on I-29 in Cass County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 2000 Kenworth, driven by a 72-year-old Brainerd, Minn., man was northbound entering I-29 at mile marker 67 when the truck was struck from behind by a commercial motor vehicle pulling a cattle trailer.

The Kenworth came to rest on the shoulder with the cattle hauler coming to rest in the right lane. The hauler driver, a 66-year-old man from Forrest, Man., suffered minor injuries.

The hauler caught fire and became engulfed after the driver exited the vehicle.

Northbound traffic was blocked for nearly four hours.

The crash is under investigation.
