MANDAN, N.D. – Testimony begins in Mandan Wednesday morning in a $300 million civil trial against Greenpeace by a Texas pipeline company.
Energy Transfer accuses the environmental group of masterminding protests over the Dakota Access Pipeline nearly 10 years ago on the Standing Rock Reservation.
Greenpeace says the lawsuit is intended to suppress free speech and to set a chilling precedent for protest groups.
The Morton County Clerk says a jury has been selected. The trial is expected to last about five weeks.
