(GRAND FORKS, ND) – Charges have been filed against a Grand Forks woman following an incident involving a child.
Court documents say the reporting party said that a domestic dispute was taking place across the hall, involving a mother and daughter and that there was a weapon used.
Throughout the course of the investigation, officers learned that the suspect, Melissa Hilliard, had gotten into an argument with the victim, identified as Beverly Hilliard. Melissa asked Beverly to leave. She then admitted to pushing Beverly in attempts to get her to leave but denied striking the victim.
A nearby witness said she saw the victim get hit by a blue and yellow box.
Additionally, a child was in the home. A strong odor of alcohol was in the apartment, along with a crock pot with mold inside – along with both open and empty vodka bottles and an open baggie of marijuana along with a glass purple marijuana pipe.
Melissa Hilliard has been charged with felony child neglect and misdemeanor domestic violence.
