The Bison would struggle to get this one started. NDSU would make just one shot in the first five minutes, which was a three-point shot, while also getting two free throws. ORU would work out to a fast 14-5 lead in the first quarter. The Golden Eagles would get as big of a lead as 14 points in the first quarter, before ending the period up 13 points.
Oral Roberts would lead the rest of the first half pretty comfortably. NDSU came within five points with a little under three and a half minutes left to play in the second quarter after an Abbie Draper 2/2 free throw trip. The Golden Eagles would close the half 9-4 after that, heading into half time up 51-41.
The third quarter is where Oral Roberts got some separation from the Bison. Following a couple Jalei Oglesby made free throws which saw the Golden Eagles up 18 points, NDSU would make an effort to close the gap a bit, finding themselves down 12 points heading into the fourth quarter.
Meghan Weinrich would open the fourth with six straight points for ORU in the first minute of the quarter, putting them up 20 points. The Bison weren’t able to bring this game closer then to within 14 points in the final quarter, ending in an 84-100 loss. North Dakota State never lead in the Saturday night loss, a loss that puts them at 17-10 overall, 9-5 in Summit League conference play.
Avery Koenen led the Bison in scoring Saturday, grabbing her seventh double-double of the season, dropping 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Molly Lentz gave the Bison 16 points in the loss, while Claire Stern also contributed 16 points and Abby Graham added 12 points, giving NDSU four players in double figures for scoring.
The Bison have two more games left on the regular season. They will be back in action Thursday, February 27 th . Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
