Kaprizov to have surgery; will miss at least four weeks

On Tuesday afternoon, Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin announced that star forward Kirill Kaprizov will have a lower body surgery.

Kaprizov is the heart and soul of the Wild and has already missed 13 of the teams first 50 games. Even in only 37 games played, he still leads the team in goals (23), assists (29), total points (52), and plus/minus (+19). Kaprizov previously missed a month before returning to the lineup for the past three games.

Head coach John Hynes spoke on the injury and Kaprizov’s frustration being sidelined for the next few week:

Kaprizov is expected to miss at least four weeks following the surgery.

The Wild will return to the ice on Wednesday night in Toronto to battle the Maple Leafs. Minnesota currently sits in third-place in the Central Division 62 points and a record of 19-17-4.
