WASHINGTON – The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee votes 18-2 to approve former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum’s Interior Secretary nomination.
Democratic Senators Ron Wyden of Oregon and Mazie Hirono of Hawaii voted against Burgum.
The same committee voted 15-5 to approve of business executive Chris Wright’s Energy Secretary nomination. Meanwhile, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved former Republican New York Congressman Lee Zeldin’s Environmental Protection Agency Administrator nomination in an 11-8 vote and the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee voted 13-11 to approve former NFL player and developer Scott Turner’s Housing and Urban Development Secretary nomination. Democratic Minnesota Senator Tina Smith voted against Turner’s nomination.
All four men’s nominations will now move to a full Senate vote.
