COVENTRY, Vt. – Authorities say a border patrol agent gunned down in Vermont is a Minnesota native.
Forty-four-year-old David Maland, originally from Blue Earth, was on duty Monday when he was shot and killed by the Canadian border during a traffic stop. Authorities say a German national was killed in an exchange of gunfire. A third person was wounded and hospitalized.
The Officer Down Memorial Page website says Agent Maland was an Air Force Veteran with more than nine years experience with Customs and Border Protection.
