Hot shooting fourth quarter propels NDSU WBB past Omaha

The Bison looked to extend their perfect play in Summit League contests, as they entered Thursday 3-0.

The first quarter of this matchup was very competitive, as when one squad made a bucket, the other would immediately go and match that basket. Through one quarter, both teams were tied up at 20 a piece.

During the second quarter, Omaha had worked out to a small six-point lead, but saw that evaporate almost right away, as within two game time minutes, the Bison had the score tied at 32. After tying the game back up, the Bison would make five free-throws in the last 90 second, to work out to a three-point lead heading into halftime.

Omaha opened up the third quarter much more disciplined, as they only allowed two baskets by the Bison in the first six minutes of the third. A Katie Keitges made three pointer around the 4:30 mark in the quarter, gave Omaha a six-point lead, yet again. The Bison were determined to not let this one get away however, as they kept it close at 55-56 heading into the final quarter of play.

The fourth quarter started off with two made free-throws from Omaha’s Morgann Gardner. The Bison would follow those two free throws, with four made baskets to propel themselves into a 63-58 lead, which the Bison wouldn’t relinquish. During the fourth quarter, the Bison would outscore Omaha 26-11, ultimately giving an ugly score, to a contest that was close, until the final seven minutes of play, finishing in a 81-67 score.

The Bison were lead in scoring by Marisa Frost. The Freshman scored 23 points, shooting 11-16
from the field.
