UND legend & Vikings TE Jim Kleinsasser to be inducted into College Football HOF

ATLANTA – Carrington, North Dakota native, University of North Dakota legend and former Minnesota Viking Jim Kleinsasser will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The tight end was inducted into the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in 2008, was an NCAA Division II All American in 1997 and 1998, was a three time first team All North Central Conference selection and started in the 1999 Senior Bowl. Kleinsasser was drafted by the Vikings in the second round with the 44th overall pick in 1999. He played for the Vikings for 13 years.

Also being named to the College Football Hall of Fame is Melrose, Minnesota native Blake Elliott who was second all-time in all NCAA divisions with 327 catches and second in NCAA Division III with 56 touchdown catches for St. John’s University after his last season in 2003. That year he was named the recipient of the John Gagliardi Trophy, the Division III equivalent of the Heisman Trophy after winning a Division III Championship with the Johnnies. Elliott was teammates with Kleinsasser on the Vikings in 2004, but suffered an injury in training camp.
