(WALSH COUNTY, ND) – Nobody was injured when a North Dakota Department of Transportation snowplow was rear-ended twice Thursday afternoon in Walsh County.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crashes happened before 4 p.m. on I-29 in Walsh County, approximately 12 miles northeast of Minto.
The Patrol says the snowplow was actively plowing northbound in the left lane, with all emergency lights activated, when a 2023 Ford F150 struck the plow in the rear. The Ford, driven by 72-year-old Frederick Hall, of Edinburg, entered the median and came to rest. It sustained disabling damage to the front.
A 2017 Kia Sorento, driven by 56-year-old Richard Grossman, of Lorette West, Manitoba, was following the Ford and entered the snow fog created by the crash when it struck the right rear of the snowplow. Both vehicles came to rest on the northbound shoulder.
Hall’s passenger, 58-year-old Dorothy Ydstie-Hall, and Grossman’s passenger, 55-year-old K Anne Grossman, were not injured.
Hall was cited for careless driving resulting in crash with snow removal equipment. Grossman was cited for care required.
