MINNESOTA – Nine DFL Minnesota senators, including Rob Kupec of Moorhead, create the Blue Dog Coalition to try and play a bipartisan role in the Legislature.
Membership also includes Sen. Matt Klein of Mendota Heights, Sen. Nick Frentz of North Mankato, Sen. Judy Seeberger of Afton, Sen. Grant Hauschild of Hermantown, Sen. Ann Rest of New Hope, Sen. Aric Putnam of St. Cloud and Sen. John Hoffman of Champlin.
The Blue Dog Coalition’s mission statement says the group seeks to bridge divides and bring bipartisan solutions serving all Minnesotans regardless of political affiliation.
Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson of East Grand Forks blasts the move.
“Every single one of these Democrats voted for a progressive, partisan agenda that included $10 billion in new taxes and fees and spent the entire $18 billion surplus that leads to a projected $5.1 billion deficit,” Johnson said.
Minnesota’s Senate has a one seat DFL majority and the House is tied at 67 seats for Republicans and Democrats.
