BISMARCK, N.D. – State officials are considering whether to allow millions of tons of carbon dioxide from ethanol plants to be stored underground in North Dakota.
The Industrial Commission is expected to vote Thursday on plans for underground storage wells operated by Summit Carbon Solutions. They would store carbon dioxide produced from ethanol plants in five Midwestern states including North Dakota and Minnesota.
The three injection wells would be in Mercer and Oliver counties northwest of Bismarck.
