Lake effect snow

Many of you will be watching football today and if you are watching Buffalo, you will probably see a LOT of snow.  That’s lake effect snow coming off of lake Erie.   Here’s how it works:

As cold air rushes over warm lake waters, the air rises….the moisture that is pulled up off the lake will form clouds and eventually heavy snow will fall from the clouds on the lee side of the lake.  There are some areas around Buffalo and Watertown that will pick up 30-50+” of snow on this lake effect event!!
