Fargo Police release update on shelter-in-place alert issues on Sunday

(FARGO, ND – The Fargo Police Department says an issue with a shelter-in-place alert Sunday morning was caused by an oversight by the Red River Regional Dispatch Center (RRRDC).

“On Sunday morning, the Fargo Police Department collaborated with the Red River Regional Dispatch Center to issue a shelter-in-place alert for a specific area in response to an active situation. Following the resolution of the incident, the FPD requested the cancellation of the alert,” Neighborhood Services Captain Matt Christensen said in a statement. “Unfortunately, an oversight by RRRDC resulted in the cancellation notification being sent to all users rather than only those originally notified. RRRDC is reviewing their internal process to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
