(STUTSMAN COUNTY, ND) – A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper sustained minor injuries while responding to a vehicle driving recklessly on I-29 in Stutsman County on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Highway Patrol, the call came in for a reckless driver near Medina. The driver and suspect was identified as 37-year-old Angelo White, of New Town. He was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.
While being arrested, White assaulted the trooper and they fought for several minutes before backup could arrive.
A Foster County Sheriff’s deputy was traveling through, stopping to assist upon hearing the request for help over the radio. White also assaulted the deputy.
Several state troopers and deputies arrived later and took White into custody.
He is being held in the Stutsman County Jail on charges of driving under suspension, driving under the influence, driving under the influence – refusal, two counts of simple assault on a peace officer, contact by bodily fluids and resisting arrest.
