(AMES, IOWA) – A recent action by the North Dakota Public Service Commission has moved the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline forward.
Bruce Rastetter, Chairman of Summit Ag, told The Flag’s What’s On Your Mind in an exclusive interview, said the pipeline will be beneficial to North Dakota and agriculture.
One of the concerns of the North Dakota Public Service Commission had been in regard to ‘not abusing’ eminent domain.
“I can assure the public that we will not,” he said. “We are looking forward to continuing that effort on voluntary easements as we complete this project and treating those landowners with the respect that they deserve.”
The next step in the process is the permitting process in South Dakota, which will go before the state this week.
“We have had several route changes to try to exit those people that don’t like us, and to get on people who are supportive and willing,” Rastetter said. Multiple safety meetings have occurred in South Dakota, which was a concern the state had when Summit Carbon Solutions filed their original application.
