MN House Minority Leader says Walz needs to work with Republicans

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota’s House Minority Leader shares what the next session will look like with the House at a 67 to 67 tie.

Republican State Representative Lisa Demuth of Cold Spring says her caucus will look to cut taxes, get rid of fraud and stop government from growing. She adds things will look much different for Governor Tim Walz as the DFL will not hold both chambers of the Legislature.

“He no longer has full control over the state. He is now required, and it shows he has to work with Republicans. He has not done that well. Not over the last two years. Basically he had the vote, he had the power, he just did it,” Demuth said.

There is no tiebreaker in the Minnesota House.

The only time it had a tie in 1979 a Republican was named Speaker and DFLers chaired the appropriations, rules and tax committees.
