NDSU’s Brown, Zabel earn MVFC weekly honors

North Dakota State running back Marty Brown and left tackle Grey Zabel earned Missouri Valley Football Conference weekly honors for their performances in last Saturday’s 42-19 victory over Northern Iowa at the Fargodome.

Brown, had his third 100-yard rushing game of the season, totaling 18 carries for 124 yards and one touchdown. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry. Additionally, this is the fourth time Brown has been named the MVFC Newcomer of the Week this season.

Zabel, graded out at 94 percent with zero missed assignments, including leading the Bison offense in physicality points. Additionally, he did not allow any tackles for loss, sacks, or quarterback hits. This is the second time Zabel has earned the MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor this season..

The top-ranked Bison averaged 5.1 yards per carry, rushing for 189 yards in the game, and converting seven of 10 third downs.

NDSU improved to 6-0 in MVFC play and 9-1 overall in the win. The Bison have a bye this week before hosting Missouri State on Saturday, November 16.
