BISMARCK, ND — Over 174,000 people voted early for the 2024 General Election, nearly halfway to the total number of votes tallied in the 2020 General Election.
The data was collected by the North Dakota Secretary of State’s Office, who say if the trends continue, it could be one of the highest participation elections in North Dakota history. A majority of the ballots cast were done in-person, totaling to 92,000 people. An estimated 82,000 people voted either by mail or absentee ballot, but nearly 11,000 additional ballots have yet to be tabulated.
For context, nearly 362,000 votes were cast in the 2020 General Election.
People still looking to vote can do so on election day, or turn in their absentee ballots at their county election headquarters. You can find more information about voting in North Dakota by clicking here.
