Concordia’s Cockhill named MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

Concordia College Jr. wide receiver, Eric Cockhill, has been maned the MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance returning kicks and punts in the Cobbers’ 41-7 win over Hamline.

Cockhill took the opening kickoff 92 yards to the house for a touchdown. It is the longest and only kick return touchdown in the MIAC so far this season. It was the first kick return touchdown for Concordia since Andy Gravdahl had an 88 yard return touchdown in September of 2021 against Presentation College. Additionally, he averaged 13.7 yards per return on six punt returns.

On the season, Cockhill is averaging 31.1 yards per kick return on nine returns and 9.5 yards per punt return.

Cockhill is the third Cobber this season to earn weekly MIAC honors, joining Jaiden Musse who was the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9 and Damien Silus who earned the MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 7.

Concordia will visit Macalester on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff will be scheduled for 1 p.m. with game coverage available on WDAY Radio (AM 970 / FM 93.1) and Larry Knutson on the play-by-play call.
